Any developments?

There hasn't really been much, if any activity for quite some time now. The Six Worldwide franchise round didn't really recieve as much interest as we expected a few years ago, and the company updates were few and far between.

I have been inactive due to the obvious college work, athough I'm near to completing the course (should be done before the end of May) and will have loads of time for Network Six stuff between then and the start of my second year in September. So just to clarify, I'm still interested, not only in N6, but also the projects I've been working on that I put on hold (I also need to keep Six HD active).

"Less than a quarter of profits come from TV now. We're essentially a radio business," Scott Taunton, a UTV Media board director and the managing director of its British radio division, said yesterday.

There has been speculation that ITV might buy UTV's TV business in Northern Ireland, where it has the Channel 3 licence.

"If that was something they were interested in, we'd have a conversation," Mr Taunton said.

Alex de Groote, an analyst at Panmure Gordon, said the City is watching for signs of a change of strategic direction after a boardroom split last month that saw the group's long-serving chairman John McGuckian and two other directors quit. But Mr Taunton said: "The future of the company remains as it was."

Profits before exceptionals jumped 10 per cent to £23.3m last year. But it made a pre-tax loss of £21.7m after a £45m "non-cash" writedown on the its Irish radio business.

Welcome to the first ever franchise round for Six Worldwide. The rules for submissions follow the same guidelines as the UK franchise round. There are a total of 8 franchises to bid for:

Yet another question about the Wiki

Does anyone know when the N6 wiki will enable registrations again.
Back when I originally set up the Sirius articles, I made the rather stupid decision to use my IP to create my article, and with IP usage and the registration system disabled, it certainly is causing a problem.

I was hoping to put up stuff for Alba TV and SixHD that would be too much to add in a thread.

Non Network Six mocks

Sorry if a similar thread has been opened previously (having had a look through the forums, there doesn't seem to be one, and if there was, it must have been long inactive), but I thought this might be a good place for members to post tv mocks that are not related to Network Six.

I'll get the ball rolling. Here is something I created a few months back (sure its obvious who I was inspired by) for the fictional ITV Arctic Television service. Whilst I created the fictional images and video sequences, Sam Hodkin (Hodders) provided the voice over, and the pifs were intially uploaded by YT users MisterTrimble and Applemask.

Six National Broadcasting is the latest News and Weekend Breakfast franchise operating nationally accross Network Six. In addition, we will also take-over operation of the Six News Channel and participate with negotiations to continue sport through Network Six.

We are based in Manchester with additional local bases in Cardiff, Glasgow, London, Newcastle and Birmingham.

This thread will include:

Examples of Six News coverage
Information on programming
Designs
A medium of communication between the Six News franchisee and the local companies

Spring 2012 Programming Round

The latest programming round is officially open, with the schedule taking effect on 1st March 2012, in line with the franchise renewal date. Please post your company's offerings to the network schedule here. Please note that this thread will also be used for the inaugural Six Worldwide schedule, as specified in the new rules and regulations (see the relevant thread for more details).

The deadline for submissions is February 16th, with the schedule appearing here within a couple of days.

Hi all, nice to be here. My name is Charles Faulkner, I'm 37 and currently based in the East of England, at Ely, near Cambridge. I'm just watching for a little while to see if I can get the hang of what you're doing here, I have the basic idea but I don't want to set foot in the wrong place and do some harm!

I am very interested in media in general, working with Arqiva's viewer panel (who report freeview loss, mux loss, etc). I speak English and a little Welsh (mostly learned through S4/C), plus several other languages which may be of use here, who knows?

Hope to fit in, and enjoy the site
