590 On Your Radio Dial is a period drama set in 1940s Minnesota, during the height of the 'golden age of radio.' At station WMFS ("Wow, Minnesota Folks are Swell!, also named after the station owner Martin F. Stanton), each night's prime time programming is performed live for a loyal audience at home and at the studio.
The action follows the behind the scenes relationships between the voice talent, crew, and the many glamourous secretaries staffing the station. There are many laughs, tears, and even the occasional kidnapping.
The series lasted for thirty-one episodes and spanned a ten year timeline. The final episode featured the historic station being razed to the ground to make way for WMFS-TV -- and the entire staff made redundant, passed over for younger, 'hipper' employees ready to make the jump to that newfangled device called television.
590 was produced by TotalAccess in the USA and was syndicated to the UK by Television North and Thistle, making the series one of the first TotalAccess titles to be picked up by an APFS Network franchise.
A continuation of the story, highlighting the early years of television on fictional WMFS, and called Your Steady Date on Channel 8 has been airing on TotalAccess One since January 2008 and has recently been sold for syndication to Network Six.
